What Is Civil Litigation?

  • Civil Litigation is a broad term that applies to any legal dispute between two or more parties who are seeking specific performance or monetary damages; Civil Litigation does not include criminal accusations. The process often begins with a demand letter or any earnest attempt at resolution outside of the Judicial system. If pre-litigation resolution methods are unsuccessful, then the litigation process begins with the filing of a civil complaint in the appropriate court that has jurisdiction.
